The minute I stepped into the ML Commons and saw sixteen 8th graders fully focused and engaged, I knew I had to find out what Ms. Lander and Ms Kochel were up to. There is something powerful and amazing to see student engagement. They were all researching topics they had chosed to study about WWII and that era. By using the butcher paper, source identification, and some great note taking and marking ideas, (also documented on the butcher paper), the students were extrapolating volumes of great information. Maybe there is something to do with the size of the paper - to see the forest. Wonderful idea by two pros who were willing to experiment.
