Learning spaces can inspire learning, be neutral to learning, or discourage learning. The Galloway School has many interesting examples of learning spaces that inspire learning, and motivate students to think. The key to excellent learning spaces is flexibility to adapt to the needs of the learners. No more "cells and bells."
To gain student attention, learning experiences must be relevant. They must connect to the outside world. The best way to find relevancy in the classroom is to leave the classroom, and experience learning beyond the walls of the school. Look at examples of "relevancy trips." They happen on a regular basis at The Galloway School.
